Niamh, (originally from Tralee, Co. Kerry), is an honours graduate of Trinity College Dublin & Dublin Institute of Technology. She completed her 5 years university training with internships at St. James Hospital Dublin & Cork University Hospital, and has practised as a dietitian in Ireland since 1993. The majority of her clinical posts were senior & single-handed positions in large teaching hospitals throughout the country, working in areas such as paediatrics, intensive care, surgery, diabetes, oncology, weight management, gastroenterology & cardiology.  She also worked as a senior research nutritionist with the Irish Universities Nutrition Alliance (IUNA) for 3 years.

In 1999, Niamh founded Cork Nutrition Consultancy, a full time private dietetic practice & nutrition consultancy, the very first of its kind in Cork and the southern region, and remains the longest established. To date, Niamh has worked in all areas of the nutrition and dietetic profession (including clinical dietetics, community nutrition, lecturing, TV/radio both locally & nationally, marketing/PR, business, national research & scientific writing), and brings this wealth of 21 years experience to all her patients & clients. She has a special interest in Paediatrics, Diabetes and Gastroenterology (particularly Coeliac Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s disease and IBS).

Niamh is an active member of the Irish Nutrition & Dietetic Institute (INDI), the professional organisation for qualified state-registered dietitians/clinical nutritionists in Ireland. In 2008 she founded SEDI (a professional support & networking group for Self-Employed Freelance Consultant Dietitians in Ireland) which represents a small group of entrepreneurial dietitians. Individually, SEDI dietitians offer private dietetic clinics, Corporate Nutrition Services & Freelance Consultancy throughout the country. Collectively the SEDI group can offer businesses a range of professional support on projects which can be rolled out nationwide.

Despite her hectic schedule Niamh is currently completing a post graduate programme in Management and Leadership at the Irish Management Institute Dublin, and plans to graduate in October 2015. She is also a busy mum of two energetic little boys! She is an accomplished pianist (Associate of the Victoria of Music, London), addicted to shoes, partial to chocolate and a glass of Malbec!

Michelle Lane RD MINDI

BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition & Dietetics

Registered Dietitian

Michelle is a registered dietitian and member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute, the professional body for dietitians in Ireland. Michelle is a first-class honours graduate of Trinity College Dublin & Dublin Institute of Technology. As part of her four years at university, she successfully completed challenging placements in St James Hospital Dublin, South Infirmary-Victoria University Hospital Cork, and The Mercy University Hospital Cork. Through her hospital placements, she has gained experience in many fields including general medicine, diabetes, oncology, upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery, and cardiology. Michelle completed a research thesis in the Coombe Women & Infants University Hospital Dublin, which investigated the link between socio-economic status and diet in pregnant women.   Since graduating as a dietitian she has worked in an acute hospital, nursing homes, private practice, nutritional analysis, and has worked in corporate wellness. She has also completed ‘FODMAP’ training at Kings College London, and offers this evidence-based programme to patients suffering from IBS & other functional gut disorders.

She has a keen interest in working with patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Coeliac disease, and weight management issues, and is passionate about providing practical methods of lifestyle change to her patients.  She believes that nutrition has a major role in not only extending the length of an individual’s life but also greatly improving the quality of that life.

Michelle also loves to cook!  She is interested in all types of recipes but her personal favourite is Thai food having travelling extensively around that beautiful country a few years ago.  She also loves getting outdoors, plays tag rugby, hikes and cycles in her free time.

Another new part-time dietitian will be joining in May 2015, so stay tuned!
